Workshop on “Emissions Pricing and Distributional Impacts” (co-hosted with ICAP)
Date and Time: 21 September 2024, 2:10 PM-3:00 PM, room: Belém
The Global Carbon Pricing Challenge (GCPC) participated in the Innovate4Climate (I4C) conference held in Berlin from September 10-12, 2024. The GCPC co-hosted a panel on “Emissions Pricing and Distributional Impacts” in collaboration with ICAP. This session explored the effects of emissions pricing systems on lower-income groups, analyzed socio-economic disparities, and presented innovative solutions from different countries to ensure fairness in the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Katja Biedenkopf also represented the GCPC as a panelist in a workshop on the political economy of carbon pricing, contributing insights from the GCPC's perspective and discussing the challenges and opportunities in implementing carbon pricing globally.
GCPC partners also gathered for an informal Technical Working Group (TWG) meetup, providing a platform for meaningful exchanges, idea-sharing, and further collaboration towards achieving carbon pricing goals. We look forward to continuing the dialogue at future events, including COP29.
We thank everyone who joined us at I4C for their active participation and valuable insights.
